SERVPRO of Belle Meade/ West Nashville: Community Superheroes

As a child, I bet you loved Show ‘N Tell day. You never knew what some other kid might bring: a pet frog, a favorite book, or the super-cool toy they got for Christmas. And the anticipation you felt while waiting for your turn to show off your beloved item…. There was nothing better!
Recently, some Sumner County school students held a show ‘n tell “Community Helpers Day,” and they were asked by their teacher to bring their parents to class. The parents were invited to share with the children how their jobs help the community. One student brought his dad, who just happens to work for SERVPRO of Belle Meade/ West Nashville!
Dad (whose name is Dan) was able to talk to the students about disasters, and how his company comes to the rescue by helping families and businesses clean up after storms, fires, floods, and accidents. He explained what can happen to homes and properties during those times, and how it can be very difficult and messy to take care of things afterwards. He let the children know that having a company like SERVPRO in a town or city is very important, because they do a job that most people cannot do for themselves very easily.
Dan let the children know that the SERVPRO team are always ready, 24 hours a day, to help people in need (kind of like Superman!) and that they even know how to get rid of mold problems, which is a very serious problem to have, whether you are big or small. The kids learned that a company like SERVPRO knows how to get to where they need to go really fast, and that they have all kinds of machinery and tools to help them do their jobs so that people can be taken care of.
There were kid-sized hardhats for students to use while they worked alongside Dan and his co-worker Brad to learn how to extract water, and that was a class favorite. Getting rid of excess water when a flood happens, whether it’s due to a broken pipe or a big storm, is definitely a job for a community superhero!
The whole class got to see what a SERVPRO van looks like, and stood in front of one with Dan and Brad for a group photo. They also learned that vans like this one are used by the company to bring workers and supplies to the sites where people need help. Now all the kids know how to recognize a SERVPRO vehicle by that great color! And just how cool it is to know that there are people in our town whose job it is to help us when we can’t do it ourselves, no matter whether it’s day or night. On “Community Helpers Day,” they got to meet some real life superheroes, and the team at SERVPRO of Belle Meade/ West Nashville is proud to have been able to be a part of that!
